How irritating is it when you're looking so forward to seeing your idol in concert, and then BAM, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, you're told that it's been cancelled!
Well, that's just how Nancy Ajram's fans in Tunisia must have felt, when her highly-anticipated concert was cancelled at the last minute this week.
The singer was due to perform at the “Banzarat Festival” when the festival's spokesperson, Bashir Al Saifawi, explained that the concert had to be called off for several reasons.
Although concert tickets were already on sale, bad weather conditions, the unstable political conditions in both Tunisia, Lebanon and the Arab world all played a part in causing the event to shut down.
When Bashir was challenged by the press and told that those reasons were already in place when concert negotiations took place, he explained that the announcement made by US President Obama to use military action in Syria meant that conditions in the region were surely about to explode. He added, that if things were to accelerate in the ME, Nancy wouldn't be able to get on a plane back home.
Bashir wanted fans to know that Nancy mutually agreed to cancel the concert to avoid complications. Rumor had it that low ticket sales prompted the singer to cancel her concert, as she refused to perform for a small number of people, even if she was to get paid in full for it.
The concert venue was set to fit over 10 thousand viewers, but only a few hundred bought tickets to see the star. The spokesperson assured the press that low ticket sales had nothing to do with the cancellation, stressing that everyone who bought a ticket will be reimbursed for it.
