Nancy Ajram joins Enrique Iglesias in Cairo
Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram revealed that she will be taking part in the big concert scheduled to take place in Cairo-Egypt featuring international Spanish heartthrob Enrique Iglesias. The concert will be held at the Egyptian International Media City on April 17, 2004.
According to the London based Elaph, the concert is part of a Middle East tour Enrique is holding and is expected to witness enormous success. Nancy has stressed that her participation in the concert will surely add to her music career and it’s an experience she looks forward with excitement.
The Arab music satellite channel Melody will be airing Enrique’s tour and has prepared several quiz shows for viewers with chances to win free tickets to the concerts, in addition to a grand prize, which is a chance to hold a personal interview with the international singer. Enrique’s first stop is in Dubai on April 15, 2004 after which he will head directly to Cairo.
Ajram has recently completed shooting her latest music video for the song "Ah O Nus" under the direction of Lebanese director Nadine Labky. In the clip, Nancy plays the role of a simple Egyptian village girl who amuses her townspeople by dancing and singing to them. The singer also appears in some of the scenes washing cloths with her bare hands to signify her simple life.
The singer revealed that she is preparing a huge surprise for her audience, which will surely take them by surprise. Nancy refused to give details about the surprise stressing that in good time everything will be revealed, and it will meet all her fans' satisfaction.
The singer's upcoming album is scheduled for release in early October, and will surely find success as did her previous album. The singer is noted to be one of the fastest moving singers towards popularity, for the mere fact that she was able to accomplish so much success in such little time and reach number one spot on most music charts in the Arab world.
Nancy's new album has been described by her business manager Jiji Lamara as “exceptional work” and many famous composers and poets participated in the album like Tark Abu Joudeh, Mohammed Raheem, Tarek Madkoor, and others.
Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram has repeatedly refused to accept any offer to act, stressing that her singing career is the focus at the time, but despite this previous decision, Nancy revealed that she has initially accepted an acting job. The singer has agreed to take part in a new show to be aired next Ramadan (Muslim fasting month) on one condition that she receives a wage of three million Egyptian pounds.
Nancy’s condition shocked the Egyptian broadcasting network, which offered Nancy the role, and they had immediately turned it down. It was revealed that a producer decided to sponsor the show, which is like a game show, in order to have the network reconsider turning Nancy down.
Recently, Ajram has turned down an offer for one million dollars to act in a television commercial for one of the food production companies. Nancy’s refusal for the offer comes from the fact that she refuses to accept any offer that does not relate to singing, stressing that she wants to focus her efforts on her music career only.
Nancy had also refused several offers to star in different films for the same reasons. Nancy added that she is postponing the idea of acting in Egyptian films for another two years, or until she is certain she has mastered the Egyptian accent. –Albawaba.com
