Prominent Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram has received a tempting offer to star in the upcoming television drama "Farouq Al Awal" (Farouq the First). The story revolves around the life of the late Egyptian king and his time in power, leading up to the revolution that took his crown.
Nancy was nominated to for the role of Queen Nariman, wife of King Farouq, since she resembles the late ruler. Sources revealed that Nancy was offered seven million US dollars for the role that would mark her debut into the acting world.
Queen Nariman’s son, who is still alive, stated that he would be glad to see Nancy accept the offer.
Nancy is scheduled to hold a grand performance at the Cairo Opera House at the end of June in honor of the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the ‘United Artists Band.’
Egyptian comedian/actor Adel Imam will take part in the event by performing scenes from a number of his most popular plays, and will be joined by many of the original cast members.
Recently, Egyptian police arrested a Russian and a Georgian tourist after they robbed Nancy in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, where she was staying last week.
Nancy reported that jewelry worth $30,000, along with $5,000 in cash and two visa credit cards were stolen from her room.
The thieves used the singer's credit cards to purchase large amounts of expensive jewelry, which led the police to them.
