Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi has recently released a new single "Dakhlak Shu Akhbarak" (What is Your News), broadcast exclusively on her official website.
The step marks a first of its kind in the Arab world, and only a few days later the song was aired on most Arabic radio stations.
Nawal is currently preparing to film the song in the form of a music video under the direction of Randa Alam.
The singer revealed that she hopes to complete filming before the end of the month, before heading off to Canada, where she is scheduled to hold a number of Valentine’s Day concerts alongside Lebanese singer Milhim Zein.
Al Zoughbi was recently in Cairo, where she held a grand performance at the Samir Amis Hotel. Nawal took advantage of her stay in Egypt to record a new song for her upcoming album.
On a different note, Nawal is refusing to participate in any music awards festivals due to the “dishonest manner in which winners are chosen,” according to Nawal. The singer refused to accept the ‘Music Award Trophy,’ despite the eagerness of most singers to receive such an award.
Nawal explained that she has taken this stance against music awards festivals after her experience with the ‘Video Clip Awards Festival.’ She said that she was nominated for ‘best female Arab singer’, and when certain circumstances prevented her from attending the ceremony, the officials gave her award to Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi instead.
