Nawal Al Zoughbi presents her fans with a sneak preview of her new look
June 29, 2003 marks the birthday of Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi, in which she has presented all her fans with a sneak peak at her new look. The singer has released a new photograph that shows her new look and has revealed some of the details of her upcoming album which up till now has been made in complete secrecy.
According to the London based Elaph, Nawal revealed that her new album features ten songs sung in the Lebanese, Egyptian and Khaliji (Gulf) style. The singer has gone back to the classical genre mixing in a touch of traditional Lebanese Tarab. Nawal plans on shooting three songs in the form of a music video in which two are to be filmed in Turkey under the direction of Said Marouq, and the third song, which tells a drama story, under the direction of Salim Turk.
The singer had at first to follow her old tradition of recording her new album in complete secrecy, but later on decided to change her mind. The singer has made it a habit that when she is preparing for a new release, to not give out any details regarding the style or type of songs included. Nawal stressed that this is so to always create a sense of surprise and mystery.
The singer worked with some of the most prominent composers of the Arab world like Riyadh Al Hamshari, Sherif Taj, and others. The distribution was done by three men one of whom is Jack Mary Riashi. Overall the new release is a collection of new styles and themes that Nawal will be presenting for the first time.
After breaking her cooperation with directors Mirna and Tony Abu Elias, Nawal felt the time has come for her to move in order to add a sense of change and variety to her work. The singer decided that this year she will in fact walk in a different direction and has reached an agreement for the first time ever with Al Marouq for the direction of two songs from her upcoming album, produced by Alam El Phan. She had completed most of the recordings between Turkey and Egypt. - Albawaba.com
