Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi will be heading to Tunisia early next week to be the guest of honor on the show “Shams El Ahad” (Sunday’s Sunshine) live on May 4, 2003. Nawal had recently returned to Lebanon from Cairo-Egypt to spend the Easter holiday with her family.

According to the London based Elaph, Nawal’s latest media appearance was in Dubai in an interview held with her by “The Magazine” that chose Nawal to celebrate with them the first issue. The interview was made while the singer was recording a song composed by Jan Mary Riashi, for her upcoming album. Nawal blew out the first candle on the cake that was brought in for the celebration and then began talking about her upcoming release and that it should be out this coming summer season.

During the US led war on Iraq, Nawal decided to cancel her remaining concerts from her tour in the US in solidarity with the Iraqi and Kuwaiti people. The singer held a number of concerts around the US and once war broke out on Iraq, she realized it would be considered very insensitive of her to continue performing when people are dying and suffering. Nawal at once made reservations to return to Lebanon wanting to leave the country that was causing so much destruction in the Middle East.

Al Zoughbi left to the US and Canada early last month for a one-month tour. Nawal held a number of concerts for the Arab population in the West performing a collection of her old and new songs. Herr first stop was in Canada where she performed three concerts alongside Egyptian singer Ehab Tawfiq.

The eldest among three brothers and one sister, Zoughbi made her debut in the music world in 1988, with her participation in the TV show, Studio Al Fan. She was awarded the 'Best Singer' award on several occasions throughout her career. - Albawaba.com
