Elli Deeb, business manager and husband of Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi, has revealed that once again negotiations between his wife and Rotana Production Company have reached a dead end. Elli explained that the main reason was due to Nawal’s refusal to abide by Rotana’s conditions of exclusivity.
Elli revealed that the singer’s managing office is consecutively holding negotiations with another major Arab production company that may prove to be fruitful.
Elli stressed that regardless of the company Nawal settles on, she must have complete freedom to distribute her music. Nawal recently terminated her contract with Alam El Phan Production Company.
Nawal will be taking part in this year’s annual Jarrash Summer Festival in Jordan, after being absent from the festival since 1997.
Rotana has bought the rights to exclusively air and organize this year’s festival, and it is not clear whether Nawal’s participation in the festival is connected to her recent negotiations with Rotana.
Rotana has a reputation for insisting that its members perform in festivals for which it buys rights to around the Arab world, although Egyptian singer Shireen Abdul Wahab, who is not a member of Rotana, performed in the Hello February Festival in Kuwait, organized by Rotana.
