Egyptian actor Noor al Sherif is gearing up for directing and Producing a new film entitled al Tair al Musafer (The Traveler Bird) which tackles a number of political and social issues, according to the London-based daily al Hayat.
The film which was scripted by Rauof Tawfiq and is expected to star a number of new actors and actresses, is scheduled to be shot in Egypt and a Gulf country.
Meanwhile, al Sherif will start soon the shooting of another new film entitled Oum Ya Misri (Stand Up Egyptian) which tackles the 1967 Egyptian prisoners of war.
Al Sherif considers this film as one of his greatest dreams. But he hasn’t decided yet whether to star in the film he is going to direct.
Costarring in the film are Mahmoud Hemaidah and a group of new actors. Sherif hopes that Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Mervat Amin, Mahmoud Yasin, Naglaa Fathi and Pusy will participate as guests of honor.
The film was scripted by Abdel Rahman Mohsen who previously scripted the film Zaman Hatem Zahran in which Sherif played the starring role. It is based on a true story about a group of prisoners of war who were not killed with the scriptwriter being one of them.
As an actor, al Sherif is currently shooting the starring role in the prominent Egyptian director Yousef Shahin’s short narrative film September 11 as part of the French progect in which ten of the most prominent filmmakers around the world will shoot short narrative films about September 11 attacks. In each film (11 minutes) the director presents his vision about the event and how it has affected his society. The short films are scheduled to be screened through a ceremony to be held in Paris on September 11 to commemorate the victims – Albawaba.com
