The Kuwait Cinema Club has decided to hold a ‘Directing and Film Script Workshop’ in Kuwait, under the supervision of prominent Egyptian actor Nour El Sharif.

The workshop will be held in February of 2006, and El Sharif will lecture on acting skills, and building talent. The organizers of the workshop intend to honor El Sharif for his achievements throughout his career.

The workshops are being held under the patronage of the National Council for Culture and Arts in Kuwait.

On a different note, El Sharif suddenly decided to withdrawal from an episode of "Radio Star," aired on a local Egyptian channel. The actor was shocked when he discovered that the program was not as he had anticipated, and that the producers had kept certain details from him in order to have him agree to star in it.

The actor discovered that the episodes of the program were filmed in advance, and he had only a minor role. The comedy consists of a group of little known, young actors, and the producer of the show felt it necessary to include a well known actor like El Sharif in order to attract more viewers.

El Sharif was recently granted an honorary PhD in literature from Middlebury University in Vermont, in the United States.

"Mr. Sharif, it gives me great honor to present you with this PhD in Literature, for you have proved to be one of the most notable actors and directors in the world," stated the university professor who awarded El Sharif his PhD.

"You have decided to challenge the world with your art, and the world is always progressing with your talents," the dean told El Sharif at the university’s graduation ceremony. The event featured a number of books about his life, and great achievements as an actor.
