Prominent Egyptian actor Nour El Sharif has been presented with an honorary PhD in literature from Middlebury University in Vermont, in the United States.

“You have decided to defy the world with your art, and the world is always progressing with your talents,” the dean told Nour at the university’s graduation ceremony.  The event featured a number of books about Nour’s life, and great achievements as an actor.

“Mr. Sharif, it gives me great honor to present you with the PhD certificate in Literature, for you have proved to be one of the most notable actors and directors in the cinema world,” stated a university professor as he awarded Nour his PhD.

Nour will return to the cinema in the new film “Baligh Abook ini Imwafga” (Tell Your Father that I Approve), and is currently looking for the right female actor to star alongside him in the new romantic comedy.

Director Sharif Abdul Latif, head of the National Theater, has persuaded Nour to take the leading role in his upcoming play “Al Ameerah wal Sa’louk” (The Princess and her servant), and Nour will also assist Sharif with the direction.

“It is a love story taken from the fairytale a Thousand and One Nights, which really captured my interest,” Nour explained.

The play was written by Al Fareed Al Faraj nearly two years ago.
