Egyptian pop-star Amr Diab was forced to suddenly halt preparations for his upcoming album in Cairo and head to Lebanon. His sudden departure came when Amr’s children demanded to spend time with him claiming that his work is taking him away from them.
According to the Egyptian based weekly, Al Nogoom, Amr realized that he could not let his children down and must obey their wishes. The singer stressed that his family is his first priority and the only thing that could come between him and his work.
On a different note, Amr denied rumors that he plans on running for election to become a member of the Egyptian Parliament. Amr revealed that he was in shock when he heard the news and could not understand why such a rumor was circulating.
Amr explained that he is extremely busy preparing for his upcoming album and during this period the only people he sees are his team of composers, and refuses to speak with anyone else. Amr added that his ambitions lay only in his singing career and that he never thought of concerning himself with politics.
It was rumored that Amr is steering away from the music profession and will enter the Parliamentary elections, which will take place immediately after the Presidential election. Rumors are circulating that the singer has already began his new political campaign by heading back to his hometown to try and win over the support of his people.
