Although threats of postponement or cancellation have been shadowing the release of the new Yihya Fakharani series, Opera Aida, viewers were happy to see the first episode airing on various satellite networks on the first day of Ramadan.

Previously, Al Masa’a newspaper had reported that Egyptian Television administration were seriously considering the postponement of the series till mid-season.

The main reason for delaying the show’s release was due to a new ‘one starring role per actor’ rule.

Earlier this year, Egyptian Television released a statement saying that no actor will be allowed to star in more than one series for the Ramadan lineup.

Meanwhile, Fakharani was already starring in another Egyptian Ramadan series, Zizinia II

However, it looks like an exception was made for Egypt’s highest paid actor. – Albawaba.com.
