Netflix’s original series Orange is the New Black is now available in the UAE. The series was recently added to the streaming company’s repertoire of content for the UAE. It was not a part of the content initially introduced in the MENA region. Netflix launched in 130 countries worldwide this January covering the MENA countries as well.
Currently in its third season, season four of Orange is the New Black will premiere on 17 June 2016.
Netflix has also announced that it has renewed contract with content creation and distribution firm Lionsgate to produce three additional seasons of the hit seriesOrange is the New Black.
Additional seasons five, six and seven will be produced and aired subsequently. Series Creator and Executive Producer Jenji Kohan has also committed to continue as the original series’ Executive Producer and Showrunner for three additional seasons.
“Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures,” Kohan commented.
“Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers… with whom I have the pride and honour of crafting this show.”
Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix, added: “Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both funny and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt. Audiences around the world have come to love the ladies and men of Orange is the New Black, and we are eager to see where three more seasons will take them.”
