Egyptian screenwriter Osama Anwar Okasha who has excelled in his TV series and whose film scripts were limited to only five, is back with the new film Al Eskandarani (Man from Alexandria) to be directed by Ali Abdel Khaleq and starring Mahmoud Abdel Aziz.

“I distanced myself from the movies because I nixed taking part in the new wave of the contractors’ films which some distributors turned to and which have led to the deterioration of the Egyptian cinema industry over the past few years,” Okasha told the UAE daily Al Bayan.

The writer, who is currently writing the third and last part of the series Zizinia said, “I have not taken the decision yet regarding the director who will shoot this part. I won’t repeat my past experience with the director Gamal Abdel Hamid with whom I had big differences in points of view instead of having common grounds of understanding so that the artwork would be a thorough drama. My insistence that the director Ena’m Mohammed should direct the series Damir Ablah Hikmat (Conscious of Miss Hikmat) because she is a competent series director who can tackle the most sensitive issues in women’s life is the best example on what I said. She can go deep in women to offer the most accurate details. Also in the series Al Hob Wa Ashiaa Aukhra (Love and Other Things) which we shot several years ago in addition to the very good series Umm Kulthoom in which she collaborated with the writer Mahfouz Abdel Rahman confirmed my credibility -- Albawaba.com
