Quincy Jones produces for Shireen and Waed
Director Malek Al Akkad is currently present with Egyptian singer Shireen Abd Al Wahab and Saudi singer Waed to record their parts in the charitable operetta “Bukra” (Tomorrow) that will be produced by internationally well-known producer Quincy Jones.
According to the London based Elaph, the project is a joint cooperation between Quincy Jones and businessman Badr Jafar, who resides in the United Arab Emirates. The song “Bukra” will feature 30 prominent singers from around the Arab world, who will all sing in one voice for a better tomorrow.
The song is similar to the famous song “We are the world”, which Quincy produced over 26 years ago. The song had made over 63 million US dollars and was used to help deprived people in Africa.
A modern version of “We are the world” was released last year to help victims of the Haiti earth quake.
The aim of the song “Bukra” is to unite Arab countries and build a bridge that will enable today’s youth to work together and create dialogue and forgiveness. The proceeds of the songs will go into different education programs for children in different parts of the Middle East and North Africa.
The Arab version of Quincy’s song is also produced by famous Moroccan producer Reed One, who a Grammy Award for the song.
A number of famous international artists have been invited to attend recording sessions and the big ceremony for the release of the song, among who are Shakira and Salma Al Hayek.
Syrian director Al Mawlid Malik Al Akkad, song of the late famous director Mustafa Al Akkad director of the film “Al Risalah” (The Letter), will direct the video for the song and a short documentary film to go with it.
The song is scheduled to be released worldwide on 11/11/2011. The specific date was chosen to symbolize the oneness and unity the song aims at. Dubai was chosen as the place to record and release the song for the fact that it is a cosmopolitan place that combines people from around the world.
Sony music will release a record that features the song “Bukra” along with other charitable songs sung by both Arab and Western singers.
