Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama will be holding a concert in the capital of Mauritania on October 1, alongside a popular female Mauritanian singer. It is the first time in Arab music history that a concert of this nature will be held in the capital, and the event is expected to find tremendous success.
According to the London based Elaph, a huge advertising campaign has been launched for the event under the title of “Lailet Eid” (A Holiday Night.)
A number of Mauritanian citizens have expressed their excitement, and stated that they are very grateful to Ragheb for holding the concert, despite the unfortunate events their country has recently faced.
Ragheb stated that he is honored to perform in Mauritania, and he hopes that the overturn of power that occurred less than a month ago will come to a resolution.
Owner of ‘Alam El Phan Production Company,’ Muhsin Jaber, has filed a lawsuit against Ragheb and Melody music channel demanding 10 million Egyptian pounds in compensation for financial losses.
Muhsin claims that Ragheb gave ‘Melody’ permission to air his music video “Al Hubb Al Kibeer” (The Big Love) from his latest album, which was released by ‘Alam El Phan.’
Muhsin explained that despite the fact that his contract with Ragheb ended, he still owns the rights to the last album that his company produced, and the singer had no right to give the clip to a third party.
According to Ragheb, under the contract between the two, Muhsin was obligated to finance the filming of the video. However, ‘Alam El Phan’ refused to film the clip, forcing Ragheb to finance the clip on his own.
