The Jordanian capital Amman will witness on July 4, 5 and 6 the portrayal of the theatrical masterpiece Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi by Mansour al Rahabani at the Baccalaureate School’s stadium, which can accommodate around 3,000 spectators.
The show will be held under the auspices of King Abdulla II and Queen Rania al Abdulla in collaboration with the Tourism Activation Commission in Jordan.
The play director Marwan al Rahabani told the UAE daily al Bayan, “the show which was launched during Dubai’s 2001 Shopping Festival and which was produced by Dubai Media City will be portrayed in Amman with all its artistic and technological elements including the sets and visual effects. The play will seek the help of the Jordanian Royal Cavalry to feature some shows.
Rahabani noted that the play portrayal before the Jordanian public coincides with celebrations in Amman for selecting it as the Arab culture capital for this year by the UNESCO. The play represents the largest cultural event within Amman’s celebrations following the success, which the play achieved in Dubai, Baalabak, Damascus and Beirut.
The play in which 12 dancers and singers participate including Ghassan Saliba and Carol Samahah explores the life history of the renowned late Arab poet Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi who was wishing the Arab unity. Rahabani will present in the play his own theatrical research on one of the most prominent and problematic Arab poets -- Albawaba.com
