Rania Shawki enters the honeymooners club
The date for the shooting of the new TV comedy drama "Mu'asasit Shaher El Asal" (Honeymoon Club) starring Egyptian actress Rania Farid Shawki will be determined early next week by the producers and directors. The drama revolves around a woman who inherits a large sum of money, and decides to invest it in providing the best possible happiness a newly married couple can find.
According to the Egyptian daily, El Akhbar, the newly rich woman strives to find couples who are not so well-off and lends them a hand in order to provide the best comfort for them. An association for Honeymooners is formed and anyone who has recently gotten married may join.
The drama written by Raouf Hilmi and directed by Mohammad Riad, will costar Abu Baker Izzat, Nadia Izzat, Zizi Al Bidrawi, Hassan Mustafa, Nawal Abu El Fotooh and Jihan Qamari.
The drama comes at a time when the Egyptian Media Production City has decided that it will attempt to produce a larger number of comedy series and films due to their shortage.
Rania had decided to return to the big screen after an absence that lasted several years. Rania did not give out any specifications over the details of the new film except that it will be directed by her sister Abeer Farid Shawki and produced by the two.
Rania admitted that her past experience in the cinema was not very successful and her performance was not up to expectations. The actress added that her downfall in the cinema was in one way or another intentional for she did not want to climb to stardom for merely being the daughter of the prominent later actor Farid Shawki. Rania intends to reach fame by her talents and hard work even if it meant not succeeding in one or more works.
The film will have a musical and dance theme, which is written by screenwriter Walid Yousuf, and choreographer and design by her husband Atif Awad. The actress does not see herself exceeding in the cinema world and prefers committing herself to the small screen. The only contribution she plans for the big screen is that of a film producer to relive the memory of her father prominent late actor Farid Shawki.
Shawqi announced that she refuses to act as a dancer in any upcoming TV or cinematic work after her role as “Fifi the dancer” in the Ramadan series “Al Ataar Wal Sabaa Banat” (The Spice Dealer and his Seven Girls).
Rania said that she had accepted the role to tryout a new personality not played before that transforms from a dancer into a somewhat religious woman who takes up the profession of divination and foretelling, adding to her acting career. The actress stressed that she will not take up a similar role in any future work, despite her success in the roles she played perfecting both personalities. Rania believes that an actor or actress should not repeat any role-played in one work in another because it lessen his/her credibility making them incompetent to take up new challenges. –Albawaba.com
