Lebanese television announcer Razan Moughrabi has received an offer to star in the new Egyptian television drama series “Al Ameel 1001” (Agent 1001). The new series returns to the style of the old fashioned spy dramas.
This is a considerable offer for Razan, since she recently appeared in her first film “The Italian War,” alongside young Egyptian actor Ahmad Al Sakka.
Razan plays the role of a Greek girl who meets an Egyptian spy, played by prominent Egyptian actor Yousef Shabaan, and helps him complete his mission by granting him entry into Israel. Throughout the course of events, she falls in love with the secret agent.
Razan would not reveal any more details regarding the new drama, but noted that a number of prominent Egyptian actors will take part. Razan’s role is a minor one, but she feels it will open the door to bigger roles in the future, she explained.
“The Italian War,” is scheduled for screening on July 20 in theaters across Egypt and the Arab world. Razan plays the role of a Lebanese woman who resides in Italy, working as a con artist for the Mafia. The con artist falls in love with a young man, who enables her to view life from a new perspective, and dramatic changes ensue.
Razan stated that she was impressed with the script from the beginning, and was not dissuaded by the fact that the part had been turned down by two well-known actresses, before her.
She stated that she had declined previous offers for roles in different films, and that fate had it “The Italian War” be her first.
