Rotana succeeds in taking Mohammad Foad
Finally the Music Production Company Rotana was able to sign a contract with Egyptian singer Mohammad Foad after negotiations that have lasted for a very long time. Foad agreed to sign the contract but set a condition of producing one album, which will be considered a trial to see if he will resume with the company or move to a different one.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Foad has recently left his previous production company Alam El Phan after a dispute with its owner Muhsin Jabr over the delay of releasing his last album. Muhsin had at first agreed with Foad on a specific date for the release, then suddenly changed his mind without prior warning and released albums for other singers a matter which cause Foad to go into a rage.
On a different note, Foad is secretly holding extensive working sessions with a film scenarist, who is writing a film scenario for the first time, for his upcoming new movie. Fouad had stressed that the new film is sure to be a successful surprise among viewers for the story it tackles is of great importance.
Foad refused to give any extra details regarding the nature of the film, aside from the fact that he will begin shooting the scenes in the very near future. It was revealed that Mohammad is targeting a romantic script hoping to find a story that revolves around a love story containing musical performances.
In May 2002 Mohammad starred in the film “Huwa Fi Eih” (What is Going On) costarring with Ahmed Adam marking the first meeting between the two artists.
The film was scripted by Nader Salahiddin and Sameh Sirr al Kahatem and directed by Sherif Mandour in his second direction work, according the daily al Gomhuria. The film belongs to the comedy genre and is bout two young men from Upper Egypt who decide to get married. While they were going to the wedding party they meet terrorist group and face many paradoxes but they ultimately manage to reach their destination.
In March, a court hearing for Foad against Saudi Record Production Company Tala was held, in which he filed a lawsuit demanding 1,100,000 Egyptian pounds in addition to 2,000,000 US dollars in compensation for losses caused by the company.
Mohammad said that in July 2000 he agreed with the company to give the original copy of his album “Kibir Al Gharam” (Love Journey), which consists of eight songs. Foad added that he will be responsible for covering the cost of production for the album, in terms of composing, recording, distribution, etc., while the company will be responsible for covering the cost of advertising and shooting one of the songs in the form of a video clip.
Foad filed the lawsuit when the company did not abide by the conditions set in the contract between the two leading him to cover the cost from his own budget, which in turn negatively affected his reputation. The singer added that according to the contract he has the right to ask for the suggested money compensation from the company. Mohammad sent a warning to Tala in January to pay the due amount, but the company refused. -Albawaba.com
