The Egyptian National Women Council has withdrawn an advertising campaign from director Sherif Sabri after the latter insisted that Ruby will be the model for the campaign. The council said that Ruby does not represent what they are trying to promote and they did not want the pubic to think that Ruby is what the average Egyptian girl is like.
The campaign is called “Bint Masryeh” (An Egyptian Girl) and the council decided to give the campaign to another director after Sabri insisted to have Ruby to do the modeling. This caused Sabri a great loss in addition to the losses paid after the failure of Ruby's movie “Saba’ Wara'at Kotsheena” (Seven Playing Card).
A Cairo court has cancelled a lawsuit against Ruby, which was filed by musician Ahmad Al Jabali demanding that all the singer’s entertainment activity must be halted. The court’s decision came after Ahmad and his attorney failed to show up for the hearing and so dropped the case and charges against Ruby.
Al Jabali had demanded 5 million Egyptian pounds in compensation from the singer stressing that she had signed a contract with him in 1997 giving him full rights to all her entertainment activities, and making any other contract signed since that period invalid.
The contract has been automatically extended for five years, based on a condition in the contract that states an extension for five years will be made unless one of the two parties states otherwise. Neither Ruby nor Ahmad had requested otherwise and so the extension occurred giving Ahmad rights to Ruby’s activities until the year 2009. –Albawaba.com
