The international satellite television network Showtime exclusively aired the film “Sabi War’at Kotchina” (Seven Playing Cards) starring controversial Egyptian singer Ruby on its channel Cinema Home.

Showtime repeatedly aired the film until August 10. The film is directed by Ruby’s business manager Sharif Sabri and it marks Ruby’s first leading role on the big screen.

The screening of the film comes in celebration of of Ruby’s latest album and at the end of each screening a collection of Ruby’s new songs was aired. The songs are exclusively aired on Showtime and the album will be released in the very near future.

Ruby is about to return to the spotlight after a year long absence.

Sharif said Ruby’s album will be ready for release in the coming weeks and he intends on filming new music videos for all eight songs on the album. Ruby has already headed to Sharm El Sheikh to film the first video for the song “Al Mani Khair,” also the album title.

On a different note, Ruby is under investigation for tax evasion.

The Egyptian Tax Commission claims Ruby tried to evade paying her taxes by failing to report her earnings from all of her entertainment activities, and by not filing her tax returns. Several concerts, films, and albums are on the list of unreported sources of income.

An Egyptian court gave the Commission the green light to begin its investigation to determine what she owes.
