Despite the political situation in the Middle East and the concentration of media on what is happening in Palestine and Iraq, young Egyptian singer/actress Ruby stole the lights and gave the Egyptian public something else to watch.
After the release of her movie “Sabe’ Wara’at Kotcheena” (Seven Playing Cards) a rumor spread in Cairo that all the omitted scenes are available on special copies of the film sold in the black market, or can be sent to mobile phones.
The rumor states that approximately 45 scenes were omitted before the Egyptian Censorship approved the movie, but the truth is that only 17 scenes were deleted. The rumors went further and said that the scenes were more than improper and in if they were screened the producers will be brought to court.
Director Sherif Sabri stated that he will be screening the movie including the omitted scenes outside Egypt. Still the attraction to the new Ruby mania was not only because of the movie, another song for Ruby was aired on Melody music channel entitled “Kol Ma Olo Ah” (Every Time I Tell Him Yes) and in no time has become the number one song by viewers votes.
In her video clip Ruby shows up with a swimming suit and in her sleeping gowns to add more seduction to viewers who admire her songs in addition to her looks. The movie was not successful and only achieved one million and 200 thousand EGP because it did not have a real story or professionally filmed. The script, direction, and production were by all done by Sherif.
Several months ago, Sherif launched a web site on the internet called Rubimania to attract more people to his star [Ruby].
Egyptian media is still suffering from contradiction, which was very obvious lately after the censorship approved Ruby's movie “Sabe’ Wara'at Kotcheena”, meanwhile the Egyptian TV refused to post any ads for the movie.
After many attempts to pressure management in the Egyptian television broadcasting company, they accepted to post some ads for the movie on one condition that is not mentioning Ruby's name in the ad!
Sabri and business manager of Ruby announced that the singer’s film (Seven Playing Cards) will be screened on Showtime, and in Dubai and Beirut uncensored. Sharif revealed that the film will be shown with all the seventeen scenes that were cut in Egypt by the censorship committee.
Sharif stressed that screening the film uncut is the only way it can be seen because all the scenes that were deleted in Egypt made the film loose its essential meaning. The producer added that he had previously agreed to the alterations made by the Egyptian Censorship in order not to rate it for adults only. –Albawaba.com
