Controversial Egyptian singer Rania Hussein Tawfiq, known as Ruby, refuses to answer back to the attacks against her published by various tabloid papers, particularly after she releases a new music video.

Ruby stated, “I do not even bother to read such magazines and newspapers that only publish lies about stars.” Such lies are created by tabloids to make more money, noted Ruby.

Ruby asserted that “A person should concentrate on the things that he or she enjoys, and that make a difference in their life, instead of being occupied with rumors created by sick individuals.”

The singer believes that her music videos are neither provocative nor insulting. Ruby said, “It is very normal for a singer to appear in a belly dancing costume,” as was the case in her clip “Inta Aref Leah” (You Know Why).

According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Ruby asserted that she is a respectable singer and has fans of all ages from the Arab world and abroad.

Regarding her style, Ruby announced that she always maintains her dignity, claiming that since she appeared on the scene, Egyptian singers can now compete with Lebanese singers on all levels.

She credits her discovery to prominent Egyptian director Yousif Shahin, who first presented her in one of his films.

Ruby is taking extensive English lessons to begin recording a number of new songs containing both English and Arabic lyrics. She is recording new songs for her upcoming album, and plans to film several new music videos.

The singer has completed her first European tour. The tour kicked off in London and lasted three days. After which Ruby flew to Milan to attend the Music Video Festival; she is the first Arab singer to attend the annual event. Ruby’s participation in the festival came after one of her music videos was aired on Euro News.
