Ruling against Asala overturned

A Dubai court has overturned a previous ruling against the famous Syrian artist Asala Nasri.

The first ruling ordered Asala to pay an Emirati businessman 542, 570 Emirati Dirham for breaking a contract with him.

 The details of the case go back to when Asala’s lawyer had made an agreement with the Emirati businessman back in 2004, where the businessman would supervise all of the art affairs that the famous Syrian artist has. There was also an agreement of producing 20 different musical albums for Asala in a period of 10 years which when the contract would end. The Emirati businessman would also film two video clips from every album that he’ll produce for Asala.

 The conditions on the contract were very clear where it included that Asala is not allowed to sign a musical contract with any other person without the consent of the Emirati businessman. Once the Emirati businessman gives his agreement on signing with another party, Asala will then pay him 50% of whatever she’ll make through the specific deal with the third party.

Both Asala and the Emirati businessman agreed to follow up with the contract, because once it is broken by either party then a fine of 5 million American dollars should be paid by whoever breaks off the deal.
