Egyptian actress Samah Anwar is gearing up to direct the film Ahsan Farah Fi Masr (Best Wedding Party in Egypt), written by her father Anwar Abdulla.
This film, which will be shot next September, will be Anwar’s first experience with directing since studying the art in the US in the aftermath of a car accident more than two years ago.
The actress has also delayed trying her hand at directing in order to appear in the film Qessat Hobb (Love Story) along with Najlaa Fathi and Hussein Fahmi.
Director Ahmed Saqer has nominated Anwar, who has returned to the cinema after two years, to star in the TV series Hadith Al Sabah Wal Masaa (Morning and Evening Speech), written by Najeeb Mahfouz and costarring Farouq Al Fishawi, Laila Ulwi, Abla Kamel, Hala Sudqi, Dalal Abdel Aziz, Khaled Al Nabawi and Mohammed Al Najati.
Saqer told the London-based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat that Anwar’s role would surprise audiences given her recovery from the car accident.
The series belongs to the historical and social genre and depicts Egyptians during the period between early 19th century up to modern times - Albawaba.com
