The end of the first week of Ramadan as is the case every year, mistakes are revealed in most TV series. These mistakes range from recording errors to airing at wrong times, in turn loosing viewer credibility. These problems arise due to the fact that shooting of scenes for most dramas are being done on a daily basis and aired on the same day of their recording. This in turn does not leave sufficient time for any real editing to be done.
The Egyptian daily Al Akhbar, reported that in the TV series “Zaman Emad El Din” (Emad El Din’s Era), the director forgot to place one of the main star’s name Faieq Azeb and other new faces in the credits at the beginning and end of the series. The daily also reported that Fathi Bashooki, the scriptwriter for the series, has filed a complaint against the director Hani Lashin, to the Production Company, saying he did not receive the proper exposure. The series is currently being aired on Nile TV.
“Yahia Al Adel” (Long Lives Justice) starring Mervat Ameen, has also revealed mistakes in its airing. The director Mohammad Abdul Aziz along with the crew for the series, realized that due to excessive commercial breaks the series is prolonged till Iftar (Breaking of Fasting) causing viewers to stop watching the drama. For this reason the series will be aired ten minutes earlier everyday to give enough time for viewers to watch it without having to cut it short.
Another series, which has faced the same time problem, is “Juha Al Masri” (The Egyptian Juha) aired on Egypt’s channel two. The drama was being aired during the dinner, last prayer, time when viewers are occupied with their praying. The series has moved its airing time to the afternoon where there is no occupation of interference with prayer times.
The Egyptian daily Al Akhbar, reported that in a number of TV series, due to lack of time to finish up most of the shooting for the Ramadan TV programs, actors are still in the studios shooting scenes. Due to the extensive works by most actors, directors, and producers, time has not been on the side of many of them. Since Ramadan is set by a specific date and is only thirty days, the risk of not making any mistakes while shooting is quite high as actors have to put extra effort to complete their work with the quality viewed so far. –Albawaba.com
