Iraqi artist Shatha Hasoon will star in a new television drama series called “Rasael Min Rajol Mayet” (Letters from a Dead Man) with the famous Egyptian actor Mahmoud Yasin.
Filming of the new series, her first acting experience will start this week in Egypt, Syria and Iraq. The events of the film take place between 1979 until 2006.
According to the London daily Elaph, the series is about a young Iraqi young woman with an Iraqi mother and an Egyptian father, working at a hospital in Egypt. Her father, who she has not seen in years is admitted to the same hospital as a patient and tragically dies in her arms.
The famous Egyptian actor Mahmoud Yasin plays the role of the father and in the film. He holds some communist beliefs and is exiled to Germany. Every month he sent a letter to ask about his daughter played by “Shatha Hasoon,” but her mother tells her that her father is dead.
After the fall of the Iraqi leader (Saddam Hussein), Mahmoud Yasin goes back to Iraq to look for his daughter and instead they meet in Egypt at the hospital.
A number of Iraqi actors star the new drama series like Qaid Noman, Falah Hashem and Hind Kamel. The series was written by Iraqi Hamed Al Maliki and it will be aired on satellite channels during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
