Internationally renown CNN anchor/journalist, Bernard Shaw has taken full responsibility for calling the premature results of this year’s US presidential elections, according to New York Times Magazine.
Shaw, who announced a few weeks ago that he is leaving his anchor post on CNN, tells the publication, "I was the one who went on the air at 2:18 a.m. [on the] morning [of Nov. 8] and said George W. Bush will be the 43rd president of the United States. It was a mistake, and I really hated myself for making it."
The election night news fiasco has already changed the way the networks plan to cover future elections, with ABCNews announcing Wednesday that it will no longer project the winner in any given state until after all the polls close in that state. ABC was the last television outlet to call the "too close to call" race, according to Inside.com. (ABC and Mr. Showbiz are both owned by the Walt Disney Co.)
The 60-year-old Shaw, one of the few well-known African-American anchors on television says that when he leaves the airwaves this February, his departure may create "a color void in network news anchordom." – Albawaba.com.
