Shireen’s husband released from prison
Egyptian businessman Ehab Tal’at, husband of Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi, has been released from prison after paying a debt of 26 million Egyptian Pounds he owed to the government. A check of 15 million EGP was made by Egyptian tycoon Najib Sweiris as an assistance to Ehab.
According to the London based Elaph, Shireen accompanied her husband every step of the way while he was released. The release of Tala’at does not indicate that the case against him is closed, for he still faces other charges for writing checks without having a balance.
Tala’at has been under investigation by Egyptian authorities, and both he and his wife were forbidden to leave Egypt, and authorities seized the couple’s assets.
Her husband owns one of the largest advertising agencies in Egypt and is the producer of the popular program “Al Bait Baitak” (Our Home is Your Home). The Egyptian television network had filed charges against him.
When the situation became clear, Ehab and Shireen attempted to leave Egypt on their private chartered jet, but Egyptian police stopped them and seized their assets.
Shireen had succeed in taking back a CD that was confiscated by police authorities, and that contains the original recordings of the new songs for her upcoming album to be produced by the music production company ‘Rotana.’
She had submitted an official request to the police stating that the CD cannot be considered as evidence in the case against her husband, who is accused of money laundry and embezzlement, and that it contains music for which she owns the copyrights.
Police officials agreed to Shireen’s request and returned the CD.
