Egyptian singer Shireen Abdul Wahab has completed recording five songs for her upcoming album, but has announced that the album will not be released this summer as scheduled. She has postponed the album’s release, along with the filming of new music videos, to an unspecified date.
Shireen revealed that disputes between her and her production company prompted her to postpone the release. She has filed a lawsuit against her record producer, Nasr Mahrous, demanding to break the contract between them. Shireen claims that Nasr only produces one album for her every two years, a matter that negatively affects her career and is against the stipulations of their contract, which clearly states he must produce an album for her yearly.
Shireen explained that she must present a new music style in order to maintain her career, and Mahrous has failed to offer her any of the advantages provided to other singers by different production companies. Even if the court does not grant her permission, Shireen asserted that she will sever the contract between her and Mahrous.
Amidst the singer’s scheduled court dates, her lawyer Shahin Abu Al Fotooh, announced that he will no longer represent her. Shahin had been representing Shireen in a number of cases, but suddenly made his announcement while awaiting the verdict for the singer’s case against producer Hamdi Abdul Hameed.
Shahin claimed that he feared Shireen would desert him like she did her business manager, and therefore decided to take precaution by leaving her first. There is no stability working with Shireen, and she has the tendency to suddenly layoff people without prior notice, the lawyer griped.
