Shireen Wajdi breaks her silence
Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi has chosen the Tunisian radio channel Mosaic FM to openly talk about the scandal she is facing, after her millionaire husband Ehab Tal’at, known as Egypt’s king of advertisement, was imprisoned.
According to the London based Elaph, Shireen revealed the facts behind being forbidden to sing in Egypt or leave the county, in addition to her financial situation, her relationship with her husband, career, and the currents condition under her production company ‘Rotana.’
The singer stressed that she has been faced with so many rumors and tabloids, spreading lies, that she wanted to set the record straight.
Shireen succeed to take back a CD that was confiscated by police authorities, and that contains the original recordings of the new songs for her upcoming album, produced by ‘Rotana.’
She had submitted an official request to the police stating that the CD cannot be considered as evidence in the case against her husband, who is accused of money laundry and embezzlement, and that it contains music for which she owns the copyrights.
Police officials agreed to Shireen’s request and returned the CD. When the singer went to the police station to pick up her CD, she was able to visit with her incarcerated husband, Ehab Tal’at.
Ehab has submitted a plea to decrease his sentence. He may be released on the condition that he pays back 29 million Egyptian pounds, and he plans on selling most of his assets to try and muster the fine.
