Some of the satellite channels decided not to air some of the video clips during the holy month of Ramadan for songs by a large number of artists like Dana, Dominique, Rubi, Bosi Samir, Rosy, Basima and Haifa Wahbie. As for Lebanese artist Elissa, a number of songs were banned during the holy month like “Ajmal Ihsas” (Best Feeling).

Most of the satellite channels agreed on the new decision, because they were attacked last Ramadan season for airing provocative clips during the holy month.

The owner of “Staric” satellite channels Fadel Al Qassem announced to the press that the decision to exclude all the songs that are provocative and seductive from being aired was made before the holy month started.

He also added that his company put together a committee to decide on which songs should be aired during Ramadan. Al Qassem also said that his channels filmed 30 different prayers 10 of them were done in Majd Al Qassem voice and he also has an agreement with Egyptian local singer Saed Al Saghir and young artist May Kasab to each film one prayer.

As for the music channels “Mazika” and “Zoom” the owner of the channels Muhsin Jaber released a memo to both channels managers to exclude any song that are indecent and to chose songs that are suitable for the holy month. He also announced that the channels will air prayers chanted by famous sings that are with “Alam Al Fan” company and they are Ehab Tawfiq, Hisham Abass, Mustafa Qamar, Ali Al Hajar and Muhammad Al Helo.
