Six women make Samir Ghanem crazy
The Egyptian comedy star Samir Ghanem is gearing up for shooting his new series Set Setat Ganeno Farhat (six women made Farhat mad) which is a comedy production he hopes to wrap up shooting next Ramadan.
“The new series is a comedy written by Magdi al Ebyari, directed for the first time by Medhat al Sibae’i and costarring Hasan Hosni, Dina and Shams,” Ghanem told the daily al Gomhuria.
Ghanem is present at the theater and now he is back to the TV but he is still away from the cinema. He thinks that the cinema has witnessed a terrible openness. “What goes on in the cinema is very difficult as every new star takes two of his friends and makes a film. After the film is finalized we see the two friends separating and bringing a third friend to make a new film together,” said Ghanem.
“The present generation of the cinema audience are busy with other things. The new venues are beautifully decorated and air conditioned and there is no ban on eating inside them for example. The wave of the summer films is approaching and I have read an ad saying, ‘best dinner…most beautiful hubble- bubble…and the greatest film.’ The film comes last…it is a free market for films which we do not know anything about its participants. There will be no wonder if Shaaban Abdel Rehim comes out with a film entitled ‘Killer Shaaban Abdel Rehim on the Way’. From time to time we hear somebody saying this film has generated 20 millions…some other time we hear them saying that film has not generated anything but its stars have started shooting a new film,” added Ghanem.
The comedy star believes that there are good actresses but they need some body weight. “Where are the old styles such as Hind Rustom, Samia Gamal and Tahiyya Karioka? We want a little bit of feminism among the current young film stars. As for the youth, I am not here to comment on Henaidi, Ahmed al Saqqa or Ashraf Abdel Baqi as these are experienced stars who did not achieve their present status easily,” said Ghanem -- Albawaba.com
