Solaf Mumar noted best Syrian actress
The young Syrian actress Solaf Mumar received the tile of best Syrian actress in 2009 for her role in the television drama series “Zaman Al Aar” (The Period Of Disgrace).
According to the London daily Elaph, Solaf received the title through a survey conducted by the Syrian newspaper “Al Thawrah.”
The title of second best actresses in 2009 went to the Syrian actress Sabah Al Jaza’iri for her role as “Um Isam” in the television drama series “Bab Al Harah” (Neighborhood Gate).
Solaf played the role of “Bothynah” in “Zaman Al Aar,” a young woman in her 30’s that spent ten years of her life, ever since she turned 20, taking care of her sick mother. “Bothynah” was isolated and unable to start a family of her own.
The husband of Bothynah’s best friend husband secretly asks her to marry him. She agrees and gets pregnant, becoming the villan.
“Zaman Al Aar” also stars Basam Kosa, Tayem Al Hasan, Muna Wasef, Khaled Taja, Thana Dibsi and a number of other Syrian celebrities. The series is directed by Rasha Sharbatji and produced by “Aaj Art Production and Distribution” Production Company.
Solaf denied accusations that her role in the series presented a bad image of women wearing the “Hijab” (Muslim women’s head cover), since because her character wears a “Hijab” in the series.
Solaf is married to the Syrian actor Seif Al Deen Al Siba’ie and the couple has a daughter.
