April will see a rare visit to the Middle East by legendary pop sensation, Sting, who has been invited to perform three concerts during the period April 19-25. The tour will start in Dubai where he will performs two concerts, followed by a concert in Amman, and a final “gig” in front of the pyramids in Egypt. The stellar performance is titled “The Brand New Day Tour”.
While giving a solo performance for the most part of the concert, Sting will be joined by Cheb Mami, Prominent Algerian Rai Star, for the mega-hit “Desert Rose.”
Jordan’s concert, which is going to be performed on the stage of the Arena Theatre in Amman al-Ahlya University for two continuous hours on April 22, brings Sting on a further humanitarian where he will be performing in support of the causes championed by Promise Welfare Society, Fastlink, Buzz Production and I Jordan. Sting’s concert in Jordan not only provide a one-off opportunity for Jordanian pop and jazz fans to witness a rare performance by a megastar, it will also provides Jordanians with an opportunity to lend a helping hand to the most needy people in their society, since concert returns will go basically to the scholarship fund and also to the Palestinians wounded in al-Intifada.
Naji al-Baz, representative of Buzz Production, said to Albawaba that “we are very proud of what we achieved, since organizing this event was not that easy, we shipped 20 tons of technical instruments which Sting’s group ‘The Police’ used to play. We also arranged for Sting to visit Petra on the day following the concert.”
Baz added that “our invitation to Sting came after he expressed his wish to perform a concert in Palestine in support of (the) al-Intifada. Because of the difficult situation in the occupied lands, however, he settled for performing in the neighboring countries. Sting, however, assures people that he will not abandon the idea of performing in Palestine.”
