Syrian actress Sulaf Fokharji is in the process of preparing for the most anticipated historical television drama of the year, “Wa Tabka Shahrazad Tarwi Hikayatha Lil Akheer” (And Shahrazad remains to tell her story till the end), scheduled to be aired during the holy month of Ramadan on the satellite channel MBC.

Sulaf, who plays the leading role of Shahrazad, stated that she “was thrilled to take part in such a drama.”

Playing the role of Shahrazad, one of the most influential fairy tale figures from Arab heritage, is a major step forward in her career, she added.

Although the actress admitted she is curious to see how audiences will receive her portrayal of the ‘A Thousand and One Nights’ character, and how they will compare her to the numerous other actresses who have portrayed Shahrazad in the past.

Sulaf recently visited Cairo for two days where she began shooting the first scenes for her upcoming film “Halim...Hikayet Sha’eb” (Halim…A Nation’s Story). The film’s leading star was the late prominent Egyptian actor Ahmad Zaki, who tragically passed away before its completion.

Sulaf plays the role of “Jihan,” Halim’s mysterious lover, who comes from a well-known Egyptian family, although to their dismay the love affair does not end in marriage.

Sulaf stated that she is honored to participate in a film that tells the story of Egypt’s beloved Abdul Halim Hafez, and is grateful to Zaki and director Sharif Arafeh for their nomination.
