Sultan Sings Again
Egypt’s legendary songstress Huda Sultan has decided to put on hold her 30-year retirement from showbiz to perform in an Opera which has been organized by Egyptian artists to provide both moral and financial support for Palestinians fighting for Jerusalem.
In an interview with Al Sharq El Awsat newspaper, the songstress said “for long years I have refused to sing again; but when I saw the picture of the young martyr, Mohammad Al Durra, and saw what is happening in the occupied land and Jerusalem, I thought of doing anything to help the ‘Intifada’ and I was very happy to receive Hisham Abbas’s invitation for me to participate in this project.”
The opera, which was filmed for free inside the studios of the Arab Satellite and Radio Channel (ART), features many singers and artists.
It will be aired within the coming week on worldwide and Arab satellite channels, accompanied by English subtitles.
The originator of the idea was singer Hisham Abbas, who thought of presenting the song to Jerusalem, because of the bloody events the country has been witnessing for the past 3 weeks.
The initial idea was a duet with Sultan; upon spreading the word, however, more and more were encouraged to participate, until the project grew to become an opera involving many singers and actors.
The actors collaborating in the project include great names such as Nour El Sharif and his wife Poussy, Yusra, Ilham Shahin, Leila Elwi, Mona Zaki and many more.
Meanwhile, those who will contribute their vocal abilities, aside from these stars include Ali Al Hajjar, Hani shaker, Mohammad Munir, Mohammad Foud and many, many more. – Albawaba.com.
