Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim has announced that she and her father, who has been arrested by Egyptian police for smuggling heroin into Egypt, that they are innocent of such accusations. The singer has called on everyone to not believe such lies and that nor she or her father would do such a thing.
According to the London based Elaph, Suzan added that it is a matter of time until her father is released from custody and that all the evidence prove his innocent. The first clue in the case against her father is the watch box that was given to him by a lady in Lebanon. The watch was a gift to be presented to Suzan in order to convince her to take part in an ad campaign for a company that eventually turned out to be elusive.
The singer also revealed that the whole incident is a set up especially due to the fact that some anonymous person had tipped the police notifying that her father was attempting to smuggle drugs into the country. Investigations are still under way and the singer is hopeful that her father will be set free and the truth will avail.
Last week, Egyptian airport police seized a large quantity of drugs in attempt to be smuggled into Egypt. Security forces caught a passenger called Abdul sattar Khalil Tamim, who was traveling to Cairo coming from Poland through Beirut, with three bags of heroin hidden in a watch box. After extensive interrogation with the suspect, he turned out to be the father of Suzan.
Suzan was asked to come to the police station to give her statement in the case. The father insisted on not knowing the contents of the watch box, adding that it was a present to his daughter given to him by one of her friends in Lebanon, according to al-Wattan newspaper.
Surprisingly Suzan, who showed up at the police station with three persons who helped her walk her way to the office of the head police officer, was wearing full make up and a very attractive outfit. The singer was outraged over the accusations placed against her father and insisted it must be a huge misunderstanding. –Albawaba.com
