The General Corporation of Radio and TV in Syria is currently preparing for producing a number of new TV series to be shown during the forthcoming month of Ramadan.
These include The House of Dignity by director Ghasssn Bakhos and Scenarist Abdul Nabi Hejazi. The second series is al Qeshani Public Path House by director Hani al Romani. The 30-episode series is considered an authentic documentation of modern Syrian history since the end of the Ottoman occupation until the 1960s, according to the daily Syria Times.
The first four parts of the series were warmly welcomed by the Arab audience since they gave a vivid portrayal of the socio-political situation that was prevalent in Syria, specially regarding the formation of political parties and peoples protests against the situation of instability in the country.
Another series is The Visit scripted by Nazir al Dakak and directed by Mohamad Sheikh Najeb. It is a social drama that deals with various themes.
The Papers of a Woman is another series by director Osama Shkeir. The series deals with the suffering of a woman and her challenge of social traditions in order to lead a dignified life. The series casts light on the change of social rules, especially those restricting the freedom of women and decreasing her role in society.
Nostalgia is the title of the new series by director Basil al Khatib. The series deals with a love story. It marks the return of the director al Khatib to social and romantic series following several successful historical series that focus on the socio-political situation that was prevalent in the country during the Ottoman and the French occupation.
Costarring in Nostalgia, are Ayman Zeidan, Suzan Najm Eddin, Hassan Awaiti and Amia Malas. Malas plays the role of a poor girl but she rebels against society and confronts challenges in daring way.
