The Naqsh Short Film Days 2013 highlights local artists
Giving recognition to the cinematic genius and artistry of Bahrain's filmmakers, the Naqsh Short Film Days 2013 (NSFD) returns for its second year.
After its success in 2012, the festival was lauded for projecting the field of film production and creative storytelling as well as providing a breeding ground for the local film industry to meet par with international counterparts.
This year's festivities have broadened the coverage by teaming up with Dubai International Film Festival and screening 87 short films, by more than 57 directors from all over the world in different languages, among which 31 will be Bahraini.
The festival will also host various workshops, talks by guest filmmakers and will consist of the Audi Red Carpet, Opening Ceremony, Opening Film Ceremony and the Director Choice Emirati Night.
Naqsh Creative Award Speaking to DT News, Founder and President of the Naqsh Gallery and Chief Organiser of NSFD 2013, Mohammed Maskati, stated, “The three-day event in September, which begins on 26, will be a grandeur celebration as it will also provide support and encouragement to professionals and amateurs in the Bahraini film industry through the Naqsh Creative Award for the Bahraini Film which will consist of eight categories, including best picture, best direction, best screenplay, best cinematography, best sound engineer, best music and best special effects.“
Speaking on the event's cultural importance, Mr. Maskati added that it will fix the spotlight on the local cultural and arts scenario and will pay a tribute to the film-making talents of the region. Seef Cinema will act as the backdrop for the screening of the films, and tickets will be sold at Seef Mall and Naqsh Gallery.
