Tunisian singer Thekra has for unknown reasons cancelled her tour around Tunisia and her participation in the Carthage Festival as was previously scheduled. The singer had already given her final approval to take part in the festival and July 26th was the scheduled date for her performance, but pulled out at last minute without giving any justification.
According to the London based Elaph, Thekra had also cancelled all other concerts in Tunisia, making people wonder what may be the cause behind her sudden decision. It was added that this is the second time the singer pulls out of the festival after giving her final approval/agreement for unknown reasons.
Thekra recently released her third Khaliji (Gulf) style album under the name of "Khaliji 3". The new album features twelve songs all sung in the Gulf accent. The singer had worked extensively with a number of prominent Gulf poets and composers in order to choose the most appropriate songs for her release, reported the London based Al Hayat.
Thekra had previously released the album “Thekra 3”, which is also sung mainly in “Khaleeji” style and was produced by Al Jazeera Funoon Company(Al Jazeerah Arts Company). The album was recorded at three of Egypt’s most prestigious studios; “Sout Al Qahira” (Voice of Cairo), “Sout Al Musica” (Voice of Music), and “Laileh” (Night).
It was noted that Thekra has also held extensive working sessions with Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq in which he composed a song that is included in her latest release. Earlier this year, a secret war had broken out between Thikra and UAE singer Ahlam after the latter accused her of lacking the talent to sing, demanding she put an end to the disgrace she is causing to the Khaliji (Gulf) song at once.
Ahlam said that Thikra's voice is horrible and it's a shame to consider her a singer. The attack came after Thikra released her latest Khaleji album, which Ahlam considered as a trespassing into her territory by an outsider. –Albawaba.com
