Timkad Int’l Fest to restore Algerian art spirit
The Algerian City of Batnah, capital of the al Shawiyyah Tribes district, east of Algeria, will host Timkad International Singing Festival with its new form after a halt for many years. The event will come as part of the attempts to reactivate the Algerian arts.
Many singing stars from Arab and foreign countries will participate in the festival, which will be held during the period between July 10-22.
The festival will take place on the theater of Timkad; a Roman antiquity city, which is, considered one of the most prominent old touristic attractions in Algeria. Officials at the Algerian Culture and Media Department supervising the festival hope the festival will contribute to reviving the entertainment environment, enhancing art life and providing publicity for the paralyzed tourism in the country.
A spokesman from the Culture and Media Department asserted that the festival would witness participation of artists from Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon and Syria in addition to the Spanish Flamenco Troupe and a number of foreign singing stars.
On the sidelines of the festival, entertainment programs will be carried out nationwide particularly in the Algerian coastal cities for the purpose of reactivating domestic tourism -- Albawaba.com
