Sofia has been UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador for Egypt, she has traveled throughout the Middle East promoting women’s right to reproductive health care, education and empowerment. In June 1999, she attended the UN General Assembly Special Session reviewing the five years since the Cairo conference on population and development. During the conference, Omari delivered a speech about Israeli violations of Palestinian women’s rights.
About her current activity as an actress, Sofia is filming her TV drama “Afareet Al-Sayala” directed by Ismael Abdul Hafez. Sofia had returned to the screen, after a two-year absence, to star in the drama “Abiad x Abiad” (White x White). Her last appearance on TV was in the drama “Opera Aida” with the Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakharani. Sofia had returned to the small screen to once again costar with Al Fakharani. She played the role of the rich woman who falls in love with a man, transformed in her head as the long awaited knight and shinning armor. But to her disappointment, the man she had deeply fallen for has already given his heart to someone else, leaving her with the unbearable one-sided love.
Sofia Al Omari has filed a lawsuit against one of the sparkling water companies in Egypt after she was hospitalized from drinking one of their products. The actress will stand trial and give her statements against the company demanding compensation for the harm done.
Sofia was hospitalized after drinking from a water bottle, which contained small pieces of glass inside of it. The actress had kept the water bottle in order to have it investigated by specialist, in addition to its use as proof against the company which produced it. – Albawaba.com
