After spending a few days away for relaxation with his family, Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq returned to his home in Egypt to begin arrangement with Thikra for her new album. Walid will be holding extensive working sessions with Tunisian singer Thikra for the composition of song that will be included in her upcoming album.
Walid had previously completed a composition of a song for Syrian singer Mayada Al Hinawi, reported the Egyptian weekly, Al Nogoom reported. As soon as the singer completes his work with Thikra, he plans on being choosing songs for his new albums.
Earlier this month, Tawfiq had announced that he cancelled previously scheduled tours around Europe and Canada in solidarity with Iraq. The singer said that after the US and Britain called war on Iraq, he could not find it in his heart to sing or hold any form of entertainment. Walid stressed that he strongly opposed the US attack and regarded it as ruthless and unjustifiable.
Walid added that he is currently working with Lebanese composer Samir Safeer on a new song "Lam El Sham" (Reuniting once more), calling on all Arab countries to stand as one. The singer noted that the song is his gift to the Iraqi people assuring them that all Arabs support them and their cause and wish them victory over the enemy.
On a different note, Tawfiq had decided late last year to move to Cairo temporarily for the preparations of his new movie. The name of the movie was not revealed, due the fact that no name has been given to the film. Walid’s intense occupation with the film, led him to make a complete transition for his family and enroll his children in private schools in Cairo until he is finished.
Walid had recently released two new songs from his latest album; the first “A’An Amar Hubak” (If Your Love Demands) is written by Baha El Din Mohammad and composed by Salah Al Sharnoobi. The second is “Ma Fi Hada” (There is No One Else) composed by Walid himself under the supervision of the Egyptian director Jamil Ghazi.
Thekra had recently released her newest album under the name of “Thekra 3”. The album is sung mainly in “Khaleeji” (Gulf) style produced by Al Jazeera Funoon Company. The new release features twelve songs that were recorded at three of Egypt’s most prestigious studios; “Sout Al Qahira” (Voice of Cairo), “Sout Al Musica” (Voice of Music), and “Laileh” (Night). Gulf singers Nadiba and Abdullah Abdul Kareem sang duets with Thekra that are featured in the album. Distribution was made by Akef Tareq and Amro Abdul Aziz. –Albawaba.com
