Egyptian comedian-actor Younis Shalabi suddenly experienced a severe brain seizure, and was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) where he was placed under close observation until he regained consciousness.

According to the London based daily, Alsharq Al Awsat, doctors have yet to determine the exact cause of his condition, which has been deteriorating.

They do know Younis’s health condition results from more than one stroke and a heart attack, in addition to several major surgeries he has undergone.

The actor’s wife has made a request to the Egyptian Minister of Health to finance the transferal of her husband abroad for treatment. She also asked for assistance in paying off the remaining hospital bills, which amount to over 35 thousand Egyptian pounds.

The actor has gone bankrupt as a result of the exorbitant medical bills for his treatment at different private hospitals.

Egyptian actor Samir Sabri, a close friend of Younis, formed a special association and called on members of the entertainment community to make financial contributions toward helping him.

Samir also submitted a petition to the Egyptian Minister of Health requesting that the state finance Younis’s medical treatment.
