Egyptian actress Yusra has taken on three new roles for the small screen, the cinema, and on stage in the theater. The actress has accepted a leading role in the new television drama series “Al Hub Moutan” (Love to Death), in which she plays the role of a woman who struggles with the traditions of her society trying to make something of herself.
Yusra revealed that she will return to the theater with a new play, which she is currently holding extensive rehearsals for. The actress refused to give out any details about the play wanting it to be a surprise to her audience. Yusra added that she initially accepted a role to star in a new film about the life of the late Princess Diana.
The television drama series "Malak Rouhi" (Angel of My Heart) starring Yusra, which was broadcasted during the holy month of Ramadan, was noted to be one of the most successful dramas of the month. The drama was aired on most of the Arab television channels except local Egyptian television due to several objections by the Egyptian Censorship Committee.
According to the London based, Elaph, the Committee has objected to some of the scenes in the drama in which Yusra appears in very indecent cloths or is dancing. The Censorship committee has requested that the director of the drama, Majidi Abu Ameereh makes alterations to the episodes by deleting the scenes which they feel are too hot and seductive for the Egyptian audience. Majdi agreed to the demands made by the committee and has in fact begun making the alterations in order to have the drama shown on local television channels.
Yusra had expressed that she had been surprised that her TV drama "Malak Rouhi" was not on Egyptian TV during Ramadan, adding that what added sadness to her astonishment was that it was not an ordinary drama. Yusra noted that Egyptians had to go out to coffee shops to watch the drama because it was only shown on satellite channels. In a personal interview Yusra revealed that success is a very big responsibility and this was the story with her after her success in the drama "Ain Qalbi" (Where is my Heart). She revealed that fans can accept another success easily but it’s very hard for them to see their stars fail. At the same time actors should offer different roles and avoid repeating themselves, the thing that Yusra said she had done with this year’s drama (Malak Ruhi).
Yusra said that she had intended to postpone the drama till next year, but the subject was so tempting that she feared other production companies would make it, so she rushed things up to have ready to air during this year's Ramadan. The Egyptian actress added that she does not know the real reasons for not showing the drama during Ramadan but she thinks that it worked out for the best. Because there were many dramas competing and that would have affected the drama. –Albawaba.com
