Eros Group asks consumers to recycle old electronic items

Eros Group, the sole distributor of world-renowned brands – Samsung, Hitachi, Candy, BenQ, Linksys by Cisco, TCL & Taurus – and one of the leading players in consumer electronics, is offering the best solution for electronics users and buyers who have taken advantage of the offers and promotions that were available during Gitex 2010. The company has partnered with Take my Junk UAE, a charitable foundation that provides social and moral support to underprivileged people through providing goods and other items donated by corporations or individuals, to introduce the 'Pass it On!' campaign. Eros Group is not profiting from this initiative in any way, but instead aims to guide consumers as to what they can do with old electronic items, following the largest ICT exhibition in the Middle East.

As part of 'Pass it On!', Eros Digital Home outlets across the UAE will serve as drop points for donated electronic goods from charitable individuals who want to make room for their new gadgets while helping others at the same time. Collected items have so far been donated to labor camps across the UAE. Eros is looking to partner with educational institutes and corporations around the UAE to promote this cause.

The 'Pass it on' drive also serves as an ongoing awareness campaign at all Eros stores. Customers visiting the stores are being encouraged to deposit any discarded electrical items that will then be reused or recycled. Large items, too big for the in-store drop-ins, will be collected personally by 'Pass it On' (takemyjunkuae.com) representatives. Items that cannot be reused will be recycled or sold for scrap, with the money going to the needy. This is the perfect solution this season, as shoppers update their mobile phones, televisions and laptops to the latest technology, while choosing to pass on old electronics items to those who can benefit from them.
