GETEX Dubai 2011, the Middle East and Asia's leading education, training and professional development event, has announced the Global EDTech Forum, a dedicated platform to help equip educators with the tools and skills needed to effectively use and incorporate the latest education technology and resources in the classroom.
The Global EDTech Forum, organized in coordination with ISTE, the US-based membership organisation with 80,000 members worldwide, will explore various opportunities for educators to engage learners using multiple media channels, improve the dissemination of information, and enhance their expertise in using technological tools such as Google Maps and other online applications to create meaningful and in-depth exchange of information.
The topics and focused discussions of the Global EDTech Forum have been developed based on research conducted by GETEX, which has revealed that students in the UAE and across the Middle East are more likely to obtain, absorb and retain information through various technology applications such as mobile computing, social networking, blogging, mobile information dissemination, and content creation through blogs and journals.
Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), organisers of the event, said: "The Global EDTech Forum has also been designed to help educators stay ahead of the technology curve and equip them with tools, techniques and strategies to successfully incorporate technology applications at the classroom level. Educators are the most important components in the education system, so efforts to upgrade the technology infrastructure used in various academic institutions must start with the educators themselves. GETEX Dubai 2011 thus provides the ideal platform to support the professional development of educators and boost their potential to succeed within a specialised field of expertise that is increasingly mediated by technology."
Organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, GETEX 2011 will also host interactive forums on "Excellence in Engineering”, "Excellence in Business & Finance" and "Excellence in Medicine & Healthcare", which are open by invitation and pre-registration only.
GETEX 2011 will run from 14th to 16th April, 2011 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Over 350 regional and international institutions from 37 countries will collectively offer up to 2,500 study options to an audience of over 30,000 visitors from across the Middle East.
