IT improvement ‘key’ to offering better job options
BEIRUT: Enhancing the IT infrastructure is a priority for the improvement of IT services and investments, said PCA President Jalal Fawaz.
“We should make extra efforts in improving our IT sector for us to be able to export our IT services instead of exporting our skilled workers,” he said.
His remarks came during a visit of a PCA delegation to Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnawi with the aim of discussing the current situation of the IT sector in Lebanon.
Fawaz praised the approach adopted by Sehnawi in his work at the ministry.
For his part, Sehnawi explained the strategies he is adopting with regard to the improvement of the telecoms sector.
“The improvement of this sector contributes to the creation of job opportunities and the expansion of the economy,” he said. Sehnawi also cited the results of a European study stating that the digital economy secures 25 percent of new job opportunities.
